Finally - Lapland

We'll we spent most of the day riding in a train heading north. I didn't think there was anything Bruce could take a picture of - but 42 pictures later, he obviously proved me wrong.

But first, a word about Swedish breakfasts. Brits like eggs, bacon, tomatoes, and beans for breakfast. A typically Swedish breakfast includes bread, both hard like knäckebröd, and soft, usually dark breads. Then you add ham, cheese, turkey, herring, salmon, liverwurst, throw on a little lettuce, tomato, and pickle and maybe have some fruit and yogurt, usually drinkable, on the side. Americans apparently eat cornflakes. So, we've had a breakfast buffet every morning at our hotel on this trip and it has consisted of all of the above. Here's Bruce's breakfast.

Oh - jam, too. Did I mention the jam.

After breakfast, Bruce managed to get in a few photos before we boarded the train to ride through more Swedish countryside.

The Inlandsbanan, or inland railway, stops regularly to food - lunch, dinner, snacks, at all kinds of out of the way places. When we stopped for lunch, we finally saw some sheep.

And then - the big moment - reindeer! Unfortunately, they also saw us and took off running. So, you need to look real close and use your imagination! They're the whitish blobs in the background.
But, you can take my word for it, they were cool.

So, now we are in Arvidsjaur, Sweden.
