We are in Östersund, Sweden, which sits beside the 5th largest lake in Sweden. They have their own "lake monster" called Birki and a large open air museum with farmsteads from 1780 to 1942. We spent the day touring old farm sites - Bruce was in heaven. And of course ended up with loads of pictures - mostly of cows and horses.
But first - we started at the library. No, this isn't the coolest resort that we've stayed at - this is the local public library!
Took our picture with the lake monster -
Then onto Jamtli - the open air museum. Here's a 1780 farmstead from northern Sweden.
And here are some photos of the summer camp of the herding women during the late 1800's.
Of course, a summer farm isn't complete without a few cows and horses!
Jamtli also had great interactive programs for kids. Here's a bunch of Swedish kids trying to float logs down the shoot!
And even animals needs time alone -
